Dear Wife

i now Sit down to wright you a few Lines this morning to Let you Know that i ame well and hope that theas few Lines may find you the same But Dear i have Not had a Letter from you in Over a weeak and i don't Know what to think for i have Lookt for one to night But all in vain and now while i am a wrighting the thought comes in to my mind that i had not ought to Wright again untill i recive one from you and see then how you will Like it to Bee a Looking fur a Letter and then not Git it makes me feeal down hurted and Lonley i have had one Letter from Mother this weeak and one from Sarah C. Walker and i have sent it to Mother to read and then i told hur to send it to you Dear so you Could read it Now Dear (unclear wording, possibly serval ) Do right to the one that thinks of you often and Loves you above all others on thiss Earth and Dear if i had stamps i Should right to you oftner then i do But i cant send thiss Letter untill i Git a stamp unless i Borrow one Dear i ame Detaild to to Cut wood for the Regt Every Day so i Git rid of Goin on Picket and Camp Gard and i had rather do it for then i can rest

nights and that is a Good Deal to us hear for when a man is on Picket he cant Sleeap only as hee Leys down on the Ground and Gits it and then what hee Gits dos him not much Good and if hee is on camp Gaard we haft to Git up twice in the night and stand for 2 hours so Give me the woods for all eny thing Else and i Git all my wood Drawd that I want to Burn while the rest of the Boys haft to Lug it on thair Backs over 2 miles Dear it is one of the finest mornings you evar see hear thiss morning the Birds are singing thair songs it makes me think of a spring Day at home the snow has all Gon off not a spot to Bee seean no whare around and the Boys are all well in the Company our Rigt is the healthest that it eaver was now thair is only to men sick in our Regt now while in the Regt next to us they are adding up most every day well you may say what is the reson of that well i will tell you our Regt all have Got Good tents with thair Beds Built up from the Ground while the 61st Ley on the Ground and (unclear words, possibly the Way of) Like sheeap and i ame as fat as a hog i have Got aboout 2 inches of fat on my ribs now we Live first rate we have Porke and Beeans and all the soft Bread we Can eat and that is enough to make a man fat who don't have eny more to do then we Do Dear i think that we shall all have a chance to come home Just as soon as the Old Boys Git Back at Least i hope we can Give my Best respecks to all and hear is a sweeat Kiss for you and Little Mattie So Good By Dear one fur thiss time thiss from Your evar trew and Loving Husband
