In Camp Near Brandy Station Jan the 10 1864 Dear Wife i now Sit down to wright you a few Lines to tell you that i ame well and hope theas few Lines may find you the Same the Snow is about 6 inches Deeap hear thiss morning and it is very Cold hear to Dear you wanted me to wright if i had Got my Boots yet i have not But i went to the Suttalors and Bought me a Pair i had to Pay 8 dollars for them and it is a Big price i no But then what is 8 Dollars to a mans health hear for if a man Gits sick they think that hee had ought to Do Duty Just the Same and one day i was on Picket all day and it raind all day i Got my feeat wet and Just as soon as i Got in to Camp i Bought me a Pair of Boots and now i can Go on Picket in the snow up to my kneeas and not Git wet well Dear i suppose that you think that is a Big Price to Pay for a Pair of Boots But then Dear that is nothing to a mans health and i have giv up a Gitting the Boots that you sent to me But still they may come around all right Yet i hope that they will Dear i rote you in my Last Letter that we had marching Orders But we are hear Yet the oficers say that the 8th Corps are a coming hear to releave us i hope that they will and Let us take thair Place if we do we shall Go to Baltimore and Do Garison Duty our hole core have Gon But our Davision and i think that we will Go before Long i hope that it will Bee our Luck to Git in sum Good Plaice and stay the rest |
