i now take my Pen in hand to wright you a few Lines to Let you Know that i ame well and i hope that theas few Lines will find you the Same every thing is Quiate hear now we have a Good Deal of Dutey to Do now Since the Old Boys went home we are on Picket or Camp Gard Every day thair has Bin Quite a stir a hear in Camp the Ordar Came for us to Pack up and Bee redy to move at a moments Notice and the Boys ware All in a uprore some ses that we are a Goin to Harpers Fary But our Davision had Ordars to Go with the wagon train and Gard that But we have not Gon Yet and i Don't much think that we shall Go for they say that the Ordar is countermanded and i hope it is for i hate to Leave our houses now for it would Bee rather hard sleeaping out on the Ground now for it is covard with snow now But then if we would Gain a vistory By moving i am redy to Go and they say that our troops have Got Old Longstreeats Forces all Sarounded and i hope that it is so the third Davision of our core went away

the other night and no Body Knows whare they have Gon and now our Davision haft to do Picket Duty on thair Line and it Gives us fits you had Better Balieave Well Dear i Suppose you want to know how i spent new years well i went over to Earles and had a Good time we had for dinar Boild Onions Bake Beeaf Mashed Potatoes Bread and Butter a Appel sauce and Coffie and so you see we had a Good Dinar and Earl and me wished a Good meny times that we ware Boath to victory What a time we would have But then Dear i tride to enjoy myself the Best that i could But it was a rather a Poor New Years to me But then Dear i will try and keep up Good Spirits for i ame in hopes that thiss will soon End and i cant help But Baleive that it will End Before another fall But then i may Bee Dead Before that But i hope not Dear i have Lived threw some hard times and i think i can stand it Yet at Least i will try and if i Die it will Bee in a Good caus and it will Bee when i am a doing my Duty to my country Dear we had Quite an axident happen to one our Company Yesterday one of Company C Boys ware up in a tree hear in Camp a cutting a Lim for wood and the Lim fell Down and struck Mr Carpendar on the heard and we Picked him up for dead But we took him to the hospital and the Doctors fetchet him two and now hee is Quite smart thiss morning and i Gess that hee will Git along hee Lives in Schuylervill hee worked in the Dressing rom thair to victory and hee came out when wee Did and hee is a nice old man Dear i received a Letter from you Last night and was Glad to hear from you for i have not had a Letter from you in over a weeak Before Give my Love to all the Girles and tell them to right answer to No 1 i send a sweeat kiss to you and one to Little Mattie thiss from your Ever Trew and Loving husband
