Alonzo Bump was born in Granville, New York in 1836. Information leads us to believe that he grew up on a farm with one sister, Lida. Apparently, they had a close relationship, as he wrote her letters during his time in the war. When he was eighteen, Alonzo married a sixteen year old woman named Mary Richards. They lived in Saratoga Springs with their daughter, Mattie. We think he worked in Victory Mills, a textile factory.
