Although he was never recognized for great battle feats, Albert S. Green's military life shows courage and stamina. War was not just about fighting in battles. Some men, as Albert, demonstrated their dedication to the Union's cause in different ways. Albert joined the military at mid-life, when he was nearly fifteen years older than most soldiers. Within a year, he lost rank. Yet he remained in service to his country for the remainder of his three year enlistment term.
